This image, a computer- generated composite of several exposures, was obtained with a CCD camera at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile. The CCD chip used contains 800 individual elements in both the vertical and horizontal directions, for a total of 64,000 pixels. A standard American television set, by way of contrast, has only 525 pixels in the vertical direction.
